Tiny Explorings Review: My Favorite Shoes for Toddlers and Babies

S began walking at 10 and a half months. Those first steps—unsteady, arms out for balance, with a look in her eyes like, “Can you believe I'm walking too?---were so precious. I went right out to the store and thought I was buying her first shoes to learn to walk. They were so cute! We put them on and went outside to the grass behind our house.
And suddenly, S couldn't walk anymore. Just an immediate plop to the ground. We went back inside, took off the cheap sneakers, and in bare feet, she could walk again.
The summer before, we rented an Airbnb with our close friends and their grown-up kids and grandson. The boy was a full year older than S and he ran around the lake cabin in pull-on sock shoes, these flexible shoes for toddlers, made from Tiny Explorerings.

I had seen these shoes advertised on Facebook, but you know how those ads can be. What's legitimate and what's actually going to fall apart a day after you buy it? So I was skeptical about buying them even though they “seemed” to be pretty cool. But when I realized I knew a real person who actually put them on her kid’s feet and liked them, I decided to go ahead and order them. I’m so glad I did—Tiny Explorings quickly became my favorite shoes for a baby just learning how to walk!
Tiny Explorerings took little developing feet into account when they designed their shoes. The toes of little ones naturally spread out and typical hard shoes do seem to not allow for this. I think it was why S could not walk in the cheap sneakers I bought. She didn’t need a tiny copy of adult sneakers; she needed shoes that would stretch over her feet to protect them but not restrict them. She needed shoes that could really support her while she was learning to walk! Tiny Explorerings does this. Because they’re like socks, they stretch. They have a hard sole on the bottom to protect those tiny feet! They were amazing baby shoes.

Why I Love Tiny Explorings:

They gave S so much confidence to explore outside!
They work well both with and without socks.
When they get dirty (or sweaty) toss them in the wash!
They work well as water shoes too.
They last! S wore her first pair of Tiny Explorings for about four months before she outgrew them. I then passed them onto another parent for her baby who was just learning to walk and needed baby shoes.

Though they’re on the pricey side, watch for regular sales!
