Mojito Body Scrub

First, don’t get thrown by the name. You won’t get drunk off of the body scrub! But it does smell like you might want to pick up some rum and have a party…

But, I digress. What is a mojito body scrub? It was first inspired by a colleague. I was drying some mint, thinking that maybe I would make some tea for an upcoming art market we were putting on, and she suggested I make a mint sugar scrub instead. Intrigued, I turned to Pinterest and, of course, found many ideas. I chose this one as the basis for my project inspiration:

Peppermint Coconut Sugar Scrub

The theme of our market was Cinco de Mayo so I decided to make a mojito-inspired scrub.

Recipe:

⅔ cup coconut oil (soft at room temperature)

1 ¼ cup sugar

¼ cup dried mint leaves

Zest of two limes

Mix everything together. You can either do so by hand or in a food processor/blender.

Yields 18 ounces.

Tips:

  • Store in a cool, dry place.

  • If you live in a cold climate and the coconut oil hardens, scoop out the amount you want to use a few hours before you use it. Place in a bowl. It should soften at room temperature.

  • If you live in a very hot climate and the oil melts, store in the refrigerator and remove a little at a time to soften at room temperature.

How to Use:

Body scrubs are great exfoliators and open pores. Use after washing up and/or shaving.

Rub on your hands, arms, legs, anywhere that feels a little dry. Rinse off well and apply moisturizer. Use 2-3 times/week.

Save some for yourself or transfer into little glass jars for gifts!
