What does it mean to have an Indisposbable Life?

To me, it is multi-faceted.

First, it is about savoring life. Second, it is about making the most sustainable decision at that moment. And third, it is about being conscious of what I am using—and what you are literally throwing away.
Savoring Life  Life is made up of big experiences, but it’s what is in between those moments that make our day-to-day. I got married in 2022 and had a baby in 2024. In between that, we went to a friend’s wedding, traveled to Maine to see the ‘rents twice, and honeymooned in Jamaica. But in between we cooked dinner together, took walks through the park, and rescued a crazy kitten who had been abandoned by his mom. We went to work, did the dishes, went to the movies, and binged Netflix series. There were times when one or the other was sick. To me, an exciting life is not as important as one that I can savor.

Sustainable We are faced with so many choices every single day. Some are relatively small, like what kind of shampoo do I want to buy? If I’m considering sustainability for this decision, I’m going to be looking at the container, the ingredients, and the price, as well as how easy it is for me to be able to buy (or make) it.

Other decisions are much more life-altering. What job do I want to have, where do I want to live? Here, I think the question of sustainability comes in, because I have to consider how it’s going to affect my life. Is this job going to be something I have the ability to sustain for a long term? Is it going to eat too much of my time and my energy? What is the pay trade-off?

Throwing Away How much garbage do you produce every day? How much do I produce? Even little things, maybe especially little things. I had a package of electrolytes I added to my water today. The electrolytes helped me feel better, but what happened to the little wrapper? Garbage. When my baby needed a diaper change, the diaper became garbage (so did the wet wipe). A tissue, garbage. We use these things all day long, and hardly think of dropping it into the garbage. How can we alter our mindset to be aware of what we’re using, and thus throwing away, and perhaps not produce so much garbage.

Here on Indisposable Life, you’ll find content written that addresses these topics.

There will be product recommendations for things that are sustainably made, recipes and DIY, pregnancy and baby issue posts, and more. I’m so excited to take a journey with you through Indisposable Life.
